Emirates continues to weave its web across the skies of the world. After contributing to the reorganisation of the airline sector by signing an agreement with Qantas last September, the United Arab Emirates airline is now turning its attention to Europe. EasyJet has just joined the Skywards network, enabling members of the Gulf carrier's frequent flyer programme to purchase flights operated by the low-cost carrier. An "obvious choice" according to Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Passenger Sales for Emirates, who adds: "This new strategic partnership will enable us to offer our solid base of Skywards members, 31% of whom reside in Europe, a new way of redeeming their Miles and broadening their travel possibilities".

The Miles redemption agreement, already concluded by Emirates with other airlines such as Japan Airlines and JetBlue, came into force with easyJet on 6 November. Travellers can take advantage of this new partnership for a combined flight between the two airlines, or for two separate itineraries. "This partnership with easyJet will help [Emirates] extend its reach by offering Skywards members access to the European network, our core market," said Paul Simmons, UK Director of easyJet.
