New logo for American Airlines

American Airlines is adopting a new visual identity: the logo unveiled on 17 January is intended to refresh the airline's style, and will be used on the many new-generation aircraft due to join its fleet in the coming weeks.

After a turbulent 2012, American Airlines has risen from the ashes. In fact, the new Boeing 777-300ER Flagship, which will make its debut on 31 January, is already flying the American eagle. It will soon be joined by the fleet's new ambassadors, as American Airlines has already ordered 550 aircraft, around 60 of which will be delivered during 2013. "Our new logo and livery have been designed to reflect the modernity and determination that are the hallmarks of American," says Virasb Vahidi, Chief Commercial Officer of American Airlines. "Our basic colours, red, white and blue, have been reworked to be more dynamic and welcoming. The stripes float proudly on the tail, symbolising the origin and the name of American. And in our new emblem, a redesigned eagle, we find the many elements associated with American, including the A and the star".
