At the end of January, Mandarin Oriental opened its first business hotel in China in Guangzhou, formerly known as Guangzhou. The establishment, located above the vast TaiKoo Hui shopping and business centre, has 233 rooms, as well as thirty suites and 24 flats. For this first business address in China, the Hong Kong-based hotel group enlisted the services of architect Tony Chi, who set out to blend traditional Middle Kingdom elements with Chinese modernity. The Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou is also equipped with a 750 m² function room, capable of hosting a variety of corporate events.
