Air Asia and Tata launch a low-cost airline in India

Air Asia aims to launch a new low-cost airline on the Indian market in the last quarter of 2013, in partnership with local giant Tata.

Air Asia has confirmed its intention to launch a low-cost airline, drawing on the funds of Tata - a key economic player in India - and Telestra Tradeplace. The new carrier is expected to be based in Chennai, in the south of the country, and to begin operations at the end of 2013.
