American airlines expands its network

This summer, American Airlines is launching new routes from its Miami and Dallas/Fort Worth hubs to the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

On the domestic front, American will be offering daily service between its Miami hub and San Diego International Airport from 12 June. At the same time, its subsidiary American Eagle will begin daily services from Dallas/Fort Worth to Hermosillo and Zacatecas in Mexico, bringing to 20 the number of destinations offered by American Airlines and American Eagle in Mexico. The airline also plans to expand its network in Brazil by adding new destinations from its hubs in Los Angeles and Chicago.

On 28 February, American Airlines filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation to add additional frequencies between the United States and Brazil from 2013 and 2014. American wants to use these frequencies to add a new daily flight between Los Angeles and Sao Paulo, as well as between Chicago and Sao Paulo, in order to strengthen its network in Latin America. The airline already serves Brazil from Miami to Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Manaus, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Sao Paulo; and from New York Kennedy and Dallas/Fort Worth to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
