Melia, the gateway for Chinese business travellers... in Germany

Like other European hoteliers, Melia is developing its partnerships with China to extend its corporate activities. The inauguration of the new Qube Frankfurt, on the site of a former Tryp hotel, has enabled the Chinese group to make its debut on the Old Continent, with an offer tailored to Asian customers.

The partnership concluded last December between Spanish hotelier Melia and its Chinese counterpart Greenland is now a reality... in Frankfurt! The Qube Frankfurt hotel opened its doors in the German metropolis on 13 May, replacing the Tryp chain with the Greenland group's first European address. The 177-room establishment is designed to meet the specific expectations of Chinese and more generally Asian customers, with service in Mandarin and a Chinese menu. Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, Vice President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, welcomed "this new step in our innovative alliance with Greenland, which will enable our brands to expand more rapidly (...) in the Chinese market, while at the same time enriching our hotel portfolio in Germany with a brand that brings standards and services better adapted to an increasingly important Asian clientele". The next stages in this alliance will take place in China: the Melia group will open its first address in the Middle Kingdom in Jinan in October 2013, followed by a second hotel in Tianjin scheduled for the first half of 2014.
