3 questions to Manuel Le Gouellec, Sales Director France, Eva Air

Eva Air is gaining in visibility on the French market, where the Taiwan-based airline is launching a fourth weekly flight. Its entry into the Star Alliance network should help strengthen its profile in France and Europe, as Manuel Le Gouellec, Sales Director France for Eva Air, explains. Interview by Florian Guillemin

What role does France play in the Eva Air network?

Manuel Le Gouellec - France is an especially important destination for Eva Air, as it is the only European destination served directly by the airline from Taipei. Demand is high, both from France and from Taiwan. We've been present on the French market for twenty years, and for a long time we operated three flights a week. We're stepping up a gear this year with the addition of a fourth frequency, in line with our desire to invest in this route.

When will there be a daily flight to Paris?

MR L. G. - This is planned, but there is no definite deadline. If it happens, it will be gradually, and we will probably start with a fifth weekly flight. This gradual approach is explained in particular by traffic rights, which are not the airline's responsibility. And the financial aspect also has to be taken into account: investments are made in a reasoned way at Eva Air.

What changes does Eva Air's arrival in Star Alliance bring?

MR L. G. - This is still a recent development, as we have been an official member of Star Alliance since mid-June. The aim is clearly to have an international presence. Whether we like it or not, this gives us a showcase: something that has held us back in Europe for a long time. Joining the alliance, the launch of the new business class, the introduction of a fourth flight: all these elements are helping to consolidate our development in France and Europe. At the same time, Eva Air is bringing Taiwan into the Star Alliance.
