For its arrival in the Spanish capital, the Hotel Indigo brand has opted for a sure bet with business customers: a strategic location. When it opened its doors yesterday just a few metres from Gran Via, the new representative of the InterContinental Group (IHG) was keen to pay homage to Madrid's famous thoroughfare, with murals painted throughout the hotel highlighting some of Grand Via's landmarks. "Immersed in the history and charm of our neighbourhood, this uniquely designed hotel is the perfect expression of the voice and personality of contemporary Madrid," says Rafael Ramirez Calle, General Manager of Hotel Indigo Madrid - Gran Via. All 85 rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi and Nespresso machines, unless business travellers prefer to enjoy their coffee on the panoramic terrace overlooking the hotel. On the restaurant front, chef Andrea Tumbarello has taken charge of the Gastrobar & Restaurant, creating a Mediterranean menu based on seasonal produce. More generally, this second Hotel Indigo in Spain testifies to the dynamism of the brand, launched just ten years ago in the United States by the IHG Group, and which is now expanding to Rome and St Petersburg. "The Hotel Indigo brand is experiencing significant growth and is preparing to open 15 more hotels in Europe in the near future," says Tom Rowntree, Vice President in charge of upscale and luxury brands at IHG.
