Why do you recommend the Alentejo as a MICE destination?

Why do you recommend the Alentejo as a MICE destination?
Ana Barbosa - First of all, it's a region to discover, almost a new destination, as the Alentejo is not really known as a MICE destination. Then there are the landscapes, which are exceptional and criss-crossed by charming country roads. We also have an extraordinary heritage, in terms of architecture, historical monuments and even prehistoric sites.
In terms of facilities, do you think the region is up to the demands of business tourism?
A. B. - For medium-sized groups, without a doubt. The Alentejo is not designed to host events with 500 participants. But everything is possible when it comes to accommodation. From establishments in listed buildings to luxurious contemporary hotels. Finally, local gastronomy and wine are among the best in Portugal.
What are the region's assets?
A. B. - Firstly, as I said, gastronomy and wine, but also historic towns like Evora, Estremoz and Beja, which are perfectly equipped in terms of accommodation and meeting rooms. In terms of activities, we have plenty to offer: kayaking, parachuting, horse riding, 4×4... The Alentejo also has a large marine coastline. So we offer surfing, mini-cruises with dolphin watching... All in complete safety and not so far from Lisbon.
