The MS Fram, used to the cold waters of Antarctica, will be joined for the 2016-2017 season by the MS Midnatsol. While the first liner will remain positioned at the departure point from Ushuaia, the second will cast off from the Chilean port of Punta Arenas for more 'discovery' sailing in the Chilean fjords, Cape Horn and the Strait of Magellan. "Both ships will be sailing in Antarctica, but the MS Fram will be aimed more at enthusiasts who want to explore the southern part of the globe, while the approach will be more fun and relaxed on the MS Midnatsol. Excursions and hikes will be easier," explains Christine Bois, Hurtigruten's General Manager for France. During the summer of 2016, however, it will be to the North, between Iceland, Greenland and above all Spitzbergen, in the Arctic, that these two ice-capable ships will be enchanting their passengers under the midnight sun. They will be joined by the MS Nordstjernen, whose small size makes it possible to approach shores that are not easily accessible.
