This is the start of a long series of deliveries that began on 2 March at Airbus' Toulouse delivery centre. Singapore Airlines "acknowledged receipt" of an Airbus A350, the first of 67 aircraft ordered by the airline. "The arrival of the A350-900 illustrates Singapore Airlines' long-standing commitment to operating a young and innovative fleet," said Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong. "The A350 will be a game-changer for us, as it will enable non-stop flights to destinations even further afield; it will help us improve the competitiveness and density of our network, further developing Singapore's importance as a hub". While this first A350 will initially be deployed on the Singapore - Amsterdam route - starting on 9 May - Singapore Airlines is looking further afield. The order includes 7 very long-range aircraft, which will enable the Asian carrier to launch its latest "little" aircraft to very long-haul destinations. From 2018, the A350 will operate non-stop flights between Singapore and the United States.
