In less than a month's time, on 29 July to be exact, Norwegian will be launching its new routes from Paris-CDG. The low-cost airline will take off from Terminal 1 for New York-JFK. Four flights a week will be offered between the two airports, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The winter schedule will be reduced to three weekly frequencies from November 1.
The launch of this new transatlantic low-cost service will continue from 30 July, this time on the West Coast. Norwegian will be flying to Los Angeles twice weekly, every Tuesday and Saturday. Finally, on 4 August, a third destination will be added to the new Paris catalogue: the low-cost carrier will link Roissy to Lauderdale airport. Only one flight a week is planned to Miami, pending the winter schedule which will see the addition of a second route.
Ahead of the launch, which is notable for the aggressive fares on offer, the Norwegian airline's CEO Bjørn Kjos travelled to Paris to set out his ambitions for the French market. These ambitions have inevitably been revised upwards, with no fewer than 212,000 seats offered on departure from CDG for its first year of operations at the Paris hub. In all, the airline will be present at eleven French airports, operating 32 routes. " Actions speak louder than words: this year we are increasing the number of seats available in France by 26%, from 1.13 million in 2015 to 1.41 million in 2016. "says Bjørn Kjos. " We're looking forward to launching more routes in the French regions and overseas departments "warns the airline's CEO. When asked about a possible route between Paris and the West Indies, Bjørn Kjos did not close the door on such a project for 2017. In 2015, the airline carried 967,000 passengers in France (+4.4%), including 385,000 at Orly.
