A traveller's essential companion, baggage is nonetheless a burden when it comes to getting to a meeting or exploring the city between appointments. To enable business travellers to travel light, Turkish Airlines is launching a baggage transfer service. With Mini PortTurkish carrier takes charge of suitcases between Atatürk airport and Taksim Squarein the heart ofIstanbul. The Mini Port Office at Istanbul airport is located at the metro platform, and the service is also available in the opposite direction, for the return flight. Luggage is delivered by a dedicated vehicle three times a day at specific times.
" This new offer will enable our passengers to make the most of the time they have available before their flight to Istanbul "explains Ahmet Olmutur, Head of Marketing at Turkish Airlines. " It's obviously an additional benefit for our passengersbut it's also a indirect contribution to the tourism economy of Turkey (...) We hope that our passengers will quickly make the most of these innovative services and will have no difficulty in using them outside the airport itself ".
This new service, which is part of the Off-Airport concept adopted by a growing number of airlines, has also been extended: agreements have been signed with various hotels near Taksim Square to allow baggage to be transported from these establishments to Atatürk international airport. Turkish Airlines nevertheless points out that safety restrictions prevent it from offering its Mini Port service to certain destinations, including the United States, Israel, Canada and the United Kingdom.
