Wyndham Hotels has announced the acquisition of La Quinta, one of North America's leading mid-market hotel brands. The transaction, worth $1.95 billion, will take effect in the second quarter of 2018 and will add almost 900 hotels and 87,000 rooms to the American group's offering. According to the MKG ranking, Wyndham Hotels will thus move from fourth to fifth position in the North American hotel market. third place in the worldbehind Marriott and Hilton, but ahead of the British group IHG. With more than 9,000 hotels in nearly 75 countries worldwide, the group now boasts 21 brands, including Wyndham Hotels of course, but also Ramada, Tryp by Wyndham, Howard Johnson and Dolce.
