Egencia study: SMEs want to do what the "big boys" do

Egencia is aiming to attract more small and medium-sized companies. In fact, the corporate travel agency has devoted a study to them, highlighting their appetite for solutions that enable them to make savings, in the same way as key accounts.

On 31 May, Egencia invited a number of start-ups to Expedia's offices to discuss the implementation of a travel policy.

Is optimising business travel expenditure the preserve of the big Cac 40 groups? Egencia is determined to prove otherwise. The business travel agency has published a study focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises. Unsurprisingly, the search for savings is the number 1 priority for SMEs. According to Egencia, 85 % of SMBs believe that finding additional savings is their top priority for 2018. In 60% of cases, it is even the number one issue for the coming months. This race to save money is ahead of increasing traveller productivity (50%) and improving travel expense transparency (40%). According to Egencia, these three priorities have not always attracted the attention of SMEs: " Until now, Travel Managers have focused mainly on improving or extending travel policy, improving risk management or clarifying agreements with hotels and airlines. In 2018, these criteria are no longer a priority. "says the study report.

" SMEs expect detailed reports that provide data on how professionals spend their money on the move "Virginie Pouget, Director Global Consulting at Egencia. " Previously, SMEs did not always have access to the same amount of data than large companies, because this required the implementation of expensive software. We now provide comprehensive, easy-to-use tools to enable them to browse the data and make changes if necessary. "says Virginie Pouget.
