French business travellers are probably familiar with Delta Comfort+, an enhanced economy class that passengers can book on the US airline's domestic and international routes. Delta Air Lines. This product offers a number of advantages over traditional economy class, such as seven to ten centimetres extra space between each row, more room for hand luggage, a greater seat recline and priority boarding. However, while Comfort+ class is a definite plus for passengers, it is still the most expensive class of all. a far cry from true Premium Economy.
Delta Air Lines has been slow to adopt this type of product, although it is becoming increasingly popular. The carrier has only launched its "Premium Select" on certain routes served by Airbus A350s. The class "Premium Select offers a seat recline of 75% which is greater than that of a standard economy class, 20 cm more space between each row, an integrated electrical socket, a larger video screen, a special catering service and, last but not least, the possibility of using a dedicated check-in counter and priority boarding.
To date, fewer than ten routes have been offered "Premium Select", with 48 seats. on certain A350s. This is the case on routes from Detroit to Beijing, Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo, but also on those linking Atlanta to Los Angeles and, since this spring, Detroit to Amsterdam. Despite the introduction of an Airbus A350 between Paris and New York, passengers have to make do with the Comfort+ product.
But that's about to change. The company has just announced the introduction of its Premium Select on its entire long-haul fleet by 2021. This concerns all Airbus A350s, but also Airbus A330s, Boeing 777s and even Boeing 767s, aircraft that are now more than fifteen years old. The reconfiguration has already begun. Delta also believes that the product should be very popular with the corporate market, which will finally benefit from an alternative product between business class, often considered too expensive, and economy class, considered too spartan for business travel.
