Flightright has just unveiled its airline review for 2018. The passenger rights specialist has ranked airports and airlines according to their punctuality and the number of flights cancelled between January and November. Among the 100 airlines with the most flights departing from France, Eastern AirwaysGermania, which operates flights from Rodez to Paris, Southampton and Milan in partnership with Flybe, is the most punctual, with a delay rate of 1.8 %. Behind it is Germania, a carrier offering routes mainly between Germany and Corsica, as well as from Toulouse to Morocco and Dubrovnik. Iberia Express, the low-cost subsidiary of the Spanish airline, completes the podium. With 4.4 % of delays, the French carrier Air Corsica is fourth in the ranking, followed by Transavia France.
Concerning the less punctual companies, Jet Airways leads the way with 33 % of delayed flights. Tunisair and Air Canada are behind the Indian airline with 28.9 % and 27.9 % respectively of flights departing more than 30 minutes late. Next come Egyptair (27.8 %) and TAP Express (26.6 %).
Flightright also takes stock of the airlines that have cancelled the fewest flights in 2018: Iberia Express, Emirates, Air Europa, Quatar and Blue Air top the list with just 0.1 % of cancellations. Conversely, LGW (operated by Eurowings) (5.3%), BA CityFlyer (3.8%) and Vueling (3.5%) are among the five carriers with the most cancelled flights, as are Air France subsidiaries Joon (3.5%) and Hop! (3.6%).
The most reliable airports
Among French airports, Caen recorded the fewest delayed flights (0.1 %), followed by Pau-Pyrénées (0.2 %) and Brest (0.3 %). For the European ranking, Athens airport is the most reliable. London-Luton comes third and Milan-Linate fourth. The Cologne-Bonn and Lyon-Saint-Exupéry hubs come last, ahead of Marseille-Provence, Düsseldorf and Porto. According to Flightright estimates, compensation due to passengers will amount to 562 million euros this year, 10 million more than in 2017.
