Delta tests free wi-fi on its home network

Since Monday 13 Maybusiness travellers boarding a Delta flight in the United States have a chance of being offered a free wi-fi connection in flight. The American airline is beginning an experimental phase, but the way it is being set up does not really allow customers to take advantage of the offer in advance. Indeed 55 links will change on a daily basis, with the lucky passengers being notified by email in advance of their flight. In addition, the test will be limited to two weeks, and will only concern domestic flights, from short-haul to long-haul.

Customers are used to having access to free Wi-Fi during almost every other aspect of their journey, and Delta thinks it should be free when they fly too. "explains Ekrem Dimbiloglu, Director of Onboard Products, who adds: " As with any test in uncharted waters, Delta will be relying heavily on feedback from customers and employees to find the best way to make free in-flight Wi-Fi a reality. "said Mr Dimbiloglu.
