After three months of disputesthe situation remains tense at Hong Kong and there is no immediate end to the crisis. Visit China is closely monitoring developments in the former British colony but is reluctant to intervene, fearing for its image as a responsible international power. Since then, acts of violence and demonstrations have become commonplace, taking place every weekend as well as during the week. Strikes also sporadically affected various sectors of activity. The protests affected both the city centre districts in Kowloon and on Hong Kong Island (Central), some outlying districts, as well as public transport and the airport. While the airport has been spared due to a court injunction banning all demonstrations on pain of illegality - and therefore arrest - the train Airport Express has already been paralysed on several occasions, preventing passengers from reaching the platform.

- For travellers wishing to move around the city, theHong Kong Tourist Office offers a Live Chat service to get in touch with a representative of the Tourist Office. The service is available daily from 9am to 6pm. Travellers can also find this service on the application LINE under Hong Kong Travel Buddy. Alternatively, there is a telephone line +852 2508 1234, available at the same times as Live Chat.
Transport
To keep up to date with any road or access closures in the city, the Transport Department Hong Kong has set up a website which updates traffic information every minute.
An application is also available on smartphones, in Google Play or App Store, under the name "HKeMobility and communicates traffic status. In the event of major incidents, messages are automatically disseminated under 'GovHK Notifications'.
Concerning the use of metro MTRwhich, on several occasions, has been the scene of violence, the company home page lists the lines and stations open to the public. However, a court injunction outlaws all demonstrations on the metro and regional trains, but it seems to have had little effect so far.
For the airport, the platform web page displays the latest instructions and any events that may affect its operation. Due to heightened security measures for access to the terminal (only accessible to passengers with a ticket and ID), passengers are advised to go to at least three hours before departure so that you can complete the registration formalities with complete peace of mind.
