Air France gains momentum at Orly by taking over its routes to Nice, Biarritz and Montpellier. On these last two routes, however, it will have to rely on the return of EasyJet. This August, EasyJet is launching a regular service between Paris airport and Biarritz and Montpellier. Air France's decision is therefore probably not unrelated to the return of the low-cost carrier to these two destinations.
According to Air France, the Paris Orly-Nice route will operate from Friday 24 July with three daily rotations. This is in addition to the fifteen or so daily frequencies from CDG. On 30 July, Air France will also be returning to Orly-Biarritz. This will be a modest return in terms of volume, as the airline will only be offering flights from Thursday to Sunday. It is essentially targeting a leisure clientele. Biarritz is served on average by three to four daily flights from CDG. What's more, according to Air France's timetable for August, some of the flights to Orly will partially replace rotations to Roissy. This means that seat capacity will remain virtually constant.
Air battle in the south
To Montpellier, the national airline will once again operate a daily service from Orly from 30 July. This route will enable the airline to offer six connections per day on the Paris-Montpellier route. These two sections should in future be taken over by Transavia, details of which are given below. new configuration of the Air France domestic network to be communicated at the end of the month by the company's management.
As for EasyjetIn August, it will launch four weekly flights to Biarritz-Orly in addition to the existing flights to and from CDG. This means a total of seven to nine flights a week on this route. The low-cost carrier has also resumed flights from Biarritz to Lyon, Mulhouse/Basle, Nice, London and Bristol.
