Trainline, the booking platform dedicated to rail and bus travel, is adding a new feature designed to make it easier to get a refund for a late train. Active with 270 carriers in 45 countries, Trainline has chosen France as the first country to offer this service. According to a study carried out with OpinionWay last August, 62% of French people know neither the amount nor the conditions under which they can claim compensation. Reimbursement can vary, depending on the length of the delay, from 25% to 75% of the ticket price. The study also found that 28% did not know what to do or where to turn.
With this in mind, Trainline's new Récup'Retard feature simplifies the compensation process when trains and TGVs booked via the platform are delayed. The facts, an alert is sent to the customer to let them know whether they are eligible for compensation and the estimated amount due. The application then allows the user to copy their booking number, which is essential for the process, and redirects the customer to the compensation request form. Once the discount code has been received, it can be stored in the customer's account for easy use the next time they book.
" At a time when French people's journeys have been severely impacted by strikes and COVID 19 in recent months, Trainline is continuing to demonstrate its ability to innovate (...). Starting a compensation procedure for a ticket can sometimes be an obstacle course for passengers, but with Récup'Retard, Trainline is committed to working alongside them to make the process easier and provide them with a better service. "said Audrey Détrie, Managing Director of Trainline International.
