Prior to Covid, Etihad had a fleet of 10 Airbus A380 aircraft. The planes flew from 2014 to 2020, the year of the pandemic. At the time, the airline decided to withdraw them because they were deemed too unprofitable due to their fuel consumption and the collapse in traffic.
The decision to reinstate 4 A380 aircraft follows a sharp increase in demand for air transport on the Etihad network and feedback from customers who want to see the return of one of the most remarkable commercial flying experiences in the sky.
Four classes of service for the Etihad A380
All Airbus A380s are equipped with four cabin products. "The ResidenceThe aircraft will be equipped with an ultra-luxury private product and three cabin classes. "The Residence" is the only suite in the world offering three rooms in the air: bedroom, bathroom and lounge. The product will be available for booking from March 2023.
Other classes include 9 First flats, 70 "Affaires" studios, 405 "Economy Smart" seats, 80 of which are in the "Economy Space" category.
From 1 October 2023, all flights from London Heathrow will offer first-class cabins for the most demanding customers.
In addition to the return of 4 A380 aircraft, Etihad is reactivating five A320 aircraft. This will enable a considerable increase in capacity and frequencies on existing routes and the launch of new destinations.
It should also be noted thatEtihad has temporarily moved into Terminal 1 at CDG. The move took place on 8 December.
