The conflict in the Middle East, with the regular dispatch of drones and missiles to the region, is increasingly compromising the safety of air passengers. This is leading to a suspension of most international airline routes.
Air traffic is still handled by national carriers such asEl Al in Israel and Middle East Airlines in Lebanon.
From Europe, Air France KLM temporarily suspends flights to Tel Aviv. Transavia has scheduled the resumption of flights from Orly from 6 November. WhileAir France opens bookings on CDG-Tel Aviv from 13 November. On the other hand, KLM has suspended services to Israel until 31 December 2024.
Visit Beirut, Transavia plans to return from Orly on 3 December. WhileAir France has put online ticket sales on 15 December.
Le Lufthansa Group has also just extend the suspension of its services to Tel Aviv. Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS will no longer be flying to Israel until 25 November 2024 included. Eurowings, for its part, will extend the suspension of its flights to Tel Aviv until 30 November 2024. Services from Beirut and Tehran by the Group are suspended until 28 February 2025 and 31 January 2025 respectively.
British Airways is playing it safe with stop all flights to Tel Aviv until the end of March 2025.
Gulf carriers are now playing it safe
The situation in the region has deteriorated to such an extent that even the Gulf airlines have suspended their flights. Qatar Airways has announced that it will no longer be flying to Iran and Lebanon until further notice.
In fact, no international airline now lands in Beirut, as the district where the airport is located is regularly the target of attacks. Qatar Airways has also decided to limit its services to Iraq and Jordanwith only daytime flights.
As for Etihad and EmiratesAt the same time, they announced that they would no longer be landing in Beirut and Teheran until the end of October. These restrictions are likely to be extended.
