Germany to increase Deutschland Ticket fares in 2025

Launched last year, the Deutschland Ticket allows the use of all public transport and regional trains in Germany for 49 euros. But this price will rise to 58 euros in 2025...

Le Deutschlandticket should cost 58 euros per month from January 2025, instead of the current 49 euros. This is the decision taken by the transport ministers of the various German Länder. According to Oliver Krischer, head of the transport department in North Rhine-Westphalia, "the agreement reached shows that the Länder want to maintain and develop the Deutschland Ticket because of its success "said the Green Party politician. "With this price, we can keep the ticket attractive. And we can put its financing on a firmer footing", he added.

The €58 rate is a compromise between Bavaria, which wanted to increase the price to €64, and other Länder, which wanted a more modest increase. The latter argued thattoo high a price would jeopardise the attractiveness of the Deutschland Ticket. However, there is still the problem of balancing this product. It remains largely in deficit despite its use by 13 million people. The ticket is currently financed to the tune of €3 billion, paid in equal parts by the Federal State and the Länder.
