American Airlines is celebrating both its 100th anniversary and the 250th anniversary of the United States

2026 is a special year for American Airlines, as it celebrates its 100th anniversary and is the official sponsor of America250, the 250th anniversary of independence.

This year it's a double anniversary being celebrated American AirlinesThe first is its centenary, which will be officially launched on April 15th. The second is the 250th anniversary of the United States.

America250, the organisation tasked by Congress with steering the 250th anniversary celebrations of the Declaration of Independence, has in fact selected American Airlines as the official sponsor of this historic event.

As part of this collaboration, American Airlines will play a key role in transporting passengers to the various celebration sites across the United States. The carrier has painted two aircraft in the special America250 livery, enabling the event to be themed across the US and internationally. The airline will also be the official carrier for "America Innovates," a travelling exhibition highlighting American innovation and pioneering spirit.

Furthermore, this partnership comes at another highly symbolic time for American Airlines: its own centenary in 2026. For 100 years, the company has connected territories, being a driver of economic growth, and having accompanied American history.

The company will thus present one of its aircraft in the colours of this celebration and will apply a special logo to the 1,500 aircraft in its fleet.

Concurrently, American Airlines is marking its centenary with a series of initiatives designed to enhance the customer experience. From April, the airline is introducing a limited collection of onboard products, including amenity kits, premium pyjamas, and flight slippers for its First Class passengers. These items are inspired by three key periods in its history: the Astrojet era, a symbol of early jet-age optimism; the Silverbird era, evoking the golden age of air travel; and the Forward era, focused on innovation and the future.

Comfort kits, elegant commemorative items, contain premium products, including cosmetic treatments, comfort accessories, and sustainable articles.

The new pyjama collections, offered in the premium cabin, also reflect design elements inspired by the three eras. These thoughtful touches are complemented by concrete improvements, such as the launch of new flight slippers, meeting passengers' comfort requirements.

The company promises that other initiatives will follow.
