Austrian Airlines will add more capacity to its Premium Economy. For the Austrian company's Commercial Vice-President, Michael Trestl, " By modifying our long-haul fleet, we are responding to the growing demand for travel comfort. We look forward to welcoming even more customers in our Premium Economy class." .
The Premium Economy d'Austrian will in future include 40 seats instead of 24 on the six Boeing 777-300ERs in the long-haul fleet. It is in fact a general densification of aircraft. As well as adding seats in Premium Economy, the carrier will also be adding 14 extra seats in Economy Class. This represents a substantial increase from 244 to 258 seats.
This means that Air France has a denser configuration than other airlines. The economy class configuration on Air France's B777-300ERs is 250 seats, on British Airways' B777-300s 185 seats (due to 14 seats in First Class).
Slimming down for business class
The six Boeing 777 will have a total capacity of 330 seats instead of the current configuration of 306. Not 336 seats. In fact, the six missing seats are explained by the reduction in the size of business class. The latter will be reduced from 38 to 32 seats.
This reconfiguration of the cabins will be carried out very quickly. The company has officially announced that all its aircraft will be reconfigured next Mayjust in time for the summer season. The lines concerned are those on Bangkok, Chicago, Newark, Shanghai and Tokyo.
