L'Belgrade airport is thinking bigger: by the end of the year, the gateway to the Serbian capital will have a new, more modern and more practical face for travellers. Under the leadership of the Vinci Airports that the hub has begun its transformation, as part of a project costing €732 million over the concession period.
A new stage in this transformation has been reached with the inauguration of part of the new central section of the terminal, with more than 11 000 m². For passengers, the new check-in counters are now located on the ground floor of the new central section of the terminal. And security and passport checks now take place on the first floor. According to those in charge, these changes should improve the passenger experience by improving the management of passenger flows. All this while adopting a look that is more consistent with the vast Vinci Airports network, in terms of design, materials, colour schemes, signage and furniture.
Other aspects of the project include the construction of a new tax-free zone covering almost 3,000 m². The hub will also feature a large central square with shops and restaurants. When the works are completed at the end of this year, Belgrade airport will have an annual capacity of 15 million passengers.
