The METRIC report, which has already been mentioned recently in connection with the low priority given to France as a destination for British business travellers, now provides a more comprehensive overview of the market. The document, available on the dedicated website, notes that a majority of UK professionals (61%) feel that non-financial incentive programmes are not sufficient within their companies. The study does, however, mention an alternative that is both economical and rewarding: "more than two thirds of employees believe that a simple 'thank you' in front of a group of colleagues would be a valid alternative to an incentive-type reward if the company does not currently have a sufficient budget". An understandable trend given another aspect of the METRIC report, which indicates that 64% of employers do not consult their employees before deciding on the type of reward.
