Caen-Carpiquet airport nears its targets

The 2022 results published on Tuesday by Caen-Carpiquet airport show a return to traffic volumes close to pre-pandemic records.

With more than 200,000 passengers to be carried by 2022, Volotea has contributed to the positive balance sheet of Caen-Carpiquet airport.

It's time to take stock for theCaen-Carpiquet airportwhose management presented the 2022 results the 31 January. The Caen-based platform had a successful year, welcoming no fewer than 301,395 passengers last year. Caen-Carpiquet has therefore significantly exceeded the traffic forecast for 2021, with growth of almost 33%. Above all, the Normandy airport is closing in on the 2019 level (304,769 passengers), which is both the record and the target for Caen-Carpiquet.

The two airlines present at the airport played their part in these good results. Starting with Voloteawhich, with 205,905 passengers, recorded growth of 31 %. Air France carried 94,467 passengers (+39 %).

There was also a significant increase in the number of passengers carried on each flight. The management of Caen-Carpiquet airport points out that there was an average of 81.4 passengers per movement last yearcompared with just 44.2 in 2017. Passengers favoured the south-east quarter, with Lyon, Marseille and Nice the three busiest destinations from Caen airport.
