After America, it's off to the British Isles for citizenM. Recently, the lifestyle brand had become accustomed to perfecting its network in the United States with openings in Miami and Boston recently, following its move to the Meta campus in Menlo Park, California. Next summer, it will be heading for Ireland and the United Kingdomfor its fifth hotel in London. That's as many as in Paris, the Dutch brand's other favourite city, bringing the total to 38 properties worldwide.
As part of this new development in London, citizenM is part of the transformation of the historic Olympia exhibition centreoriginally opened in 1886. With age, the site has seen an extensive redevelopment to be transformed into a vibrant district with offices, bars and restaurants, a brand new theatre and cinema, as well as an arts space, all at a cost of £1.3 billion.
Located in Hammersmith, in the west of the British capital, this likely future cultural centre will be home to the citizenM London Olympia, due to open in the autumn of 2010. at the end of summer 2025. With 146 rooms, this design hotel will have interiors decorated with a wide range of contemporary works of art. Business travellers will find three societyM meeting rooms and the Apex Room, open to the public, with designer furniture and workspaces.
A little earlier, in the summer, citizenM will also be making his debut in Irelandin the heart of Dublin. Situated opposite St Patrick's Cathedral, this newly-built 245-room hotel stands on the site of a former hospital, Molyneux House, dating back to the 19th century.e The building was built in the 19th century, and redesigned in the 1970s by renowned Irish architect Sam Stephenson. The citizenM Dublin St Patrick's retains the memory of this through its Brutalist-style façade and will offer business travellers 245 rooms, as well as four meeting rooms, a lobby for coworking and a terrace in fine weather.
