Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are both facing class actions in federal courts. The reason for the lawsuit, which would appear to be a joke? Misleading passengers in order to have paid most expensive window seat. But in reality, they are not.
Legal proceedingsfiled on 19 August by the law firm Greenbaum Olbrantz LLP, allege that the two carriers charged passengers additional fees for these seats. Or, if they are indeed located next to a porthole, they are in fact facing a wall.
According to the documents, passengers would not have agreed to pay extra if they had known that their seats had no real windows. The lawyers believe that each airline has ". sold probably more than a million "It's one of those seats with a window...but no window.
Psychological effect or scam?
" A large proportion of air travellers prefer window seats and are prepared to pay extra for them. For many people, it's a special experience to see the earth at 9,000 metres or to watch a landing at LaGuardia".the wording is detailed.
" Many people are afraid of flying, or become claustrophobic. Or get motion sickness on planes. The portholes give them a greater level of comfort in an environment deemed stressful" the documents describe.
The aircraft involved include certain types of Boeing 737s, Boeing 757s and Airbus A321s. The procedure also notes that other carriers such as Alaska Airlines and American Airlines alert customers when a window seat does not offer a view. The complainants point out that Delta and United have not adopted such a practice.
Greenbaum Olbrantz LLP wants the two airlines to reimburse the extra cost of booking these windowless seats. Further damage is likely, although there is no mention of this in the wording.
The law firm also offers online a public form for those who feel they have experienced this problem.
