Attracting talent from abroad, they are all banking on biotech, cleantech and ecological correctness. Some know how to reconvert their old industrial districts; others how to connect to the rest of the world to become more competitive. On the hotel front, the palaces of yesteryear are taking on a very contemporary spirit, while the small, up-and-coming chains stand out for their unexpected originality.
