Last September, Emirates set course for Madagascar. A successful "gamble" according to the press conference held on 15 January in Antananarivo, attended by the Ministry of Transport, the Madagascan Ministry of Tourism and Emirates. The airline made official its new ambitions for the Big Island: its frequencies will be increased on 2 April to six flights a week. The expanded schedule between Dubai and Antananarivo, linked via Mahé, will operate every day except Monday. But the Madagascan authorities have every intention of stepping up the service even further: " We are moving in the right direction to achieve a rate of more than one flight a day "says the Minister for Transport and Meteorology.
Business customers are an important part of Emirates' plans for this route, as confirmed by Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Senior Vice President Commercial Operations for West Asia and the Indian Ocean at Emirates: " The increase in round trips will help to strengthen the economic links between Madagascar and the United Arab Emirates, by making it even easier for travellers to get around, whether for leisure or business purposes. The exchange of goods will also be facilitated with additional freight capacity. ".
