If some people still had doubts about the impact of the introduction of the European ETS system, aviation industry specialist OAG has just provided some initial figures, which should soon be weighing on companies' travel budgets. In the latest edition of its Aviation Market Report, OAG estimates that "the impact of the ETS on the aviation sector, estimated at €3.5 billion, could increase passenger fares by at least 5.2% on major long-haul flights". It should be noted that the UK industry is all the more resistant to the introduction of the ETS because it is already subject to the APD Air Passenger Duty tax, also presented as an environmental contribution.
