Five new high-speed lines planned

Transport Minister Élisabeth Borne has outlined the government's ambitions for rail infrastructure. Five new high-speed lines should be built, notably between Marseille and Nice and Paris and Le Havre.

13.4 billion euros This is the investment to be made by the government over the current five-year period, as part of the Mobility Framework Act. (LOM). It's an ambitious programme, and one in which rail will play a decisive role, as recently stated by Elisabeth Borne to the Conseil d'Orientation des Infrastructures (COI). Rail is expected to account for more than half (51%) of this generous envelope.

The roadmap will include the construction of five new high-speed lines:

  • Bordeaux-Toulouse
  • Montpellier-Perpignan
  • Marseille-Nice
  • Paris-Normandie
  • Roissy-Creil

The project also calls for the expansion of the stations concerned, in particular Paris St Lazare. The Minister is now due to hold talks with the heads of the regions concerned to flesh out the project, which is due to be presented with the Mobility Orientation Law in October.
