Free Internet: a must for business customers

Free Internet access is now considered a basic hotel service. At least in the eyes of business travellers: a clientele which, in one case out of two, would immediately eliminate an establishment charging for network access, according to a YouGov Plc study for InterContinental Hotels Group.

While free access to the Internet may have seemed like a welcome bonus just a few years ago, it is now becoming inconceivable for a large proportion of business travellers to be charged for a service that is now considered a must. This is confirmed by the YouGov Plc survey published by the IHG hotel group, in which almost one traveller in two (43%) would refuse to choose an establishment that charges for Internet connection. A focus on French business travellers also shows that access to a free connection now appears to be the second most important selection criterion (14%) behind the hotel's inevitable location (17%), and now ahead of the television in the room (12%).
