This sounds like a Christmas present for the British people from the very unpopular government of Boris Johnson. Yesterday, the Prime Minister announced that the lockdown in the country would end on 2 December. It will be replaced by a three-level restriction system.
Different levels of rules will be imposed on regions depending on their number of infections. However, the levels will be stricter than before the second containment. Visit measure will not apply a priori than England. Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales retain their own health powers.
More good news, this time for travellers. According to the Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps, people arriving in the UK from abroad will soon be able to benefit from a quarantine reduced to five days instead of the mandatory 14. They will have to agree to be tested for covid after five days and pay for it. However, this freedom will come at a price. Visit test will cost between £65 and £120 (€75 to €135). This new rule will come into force on 15 December. Grant Shapps told the BBC that the " consolidate international travel while ensuring public safety" .
