Already launched on a strong growth momentum in France, the Hilton group intends to step up the pace in the coming years. The American hotel chain plans to open more than 20 new hotels in France over the next few years, adding to the 19 facilities currently in operation. " In the last 12 months, despite challenging market conditions, Hilton has opened six hotels in France, ranging from exciting brand entries such as the Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero openings in new regional markets, such as the Hilton Garden Inn Tours Centre and the Hampton by Hilton Tours Centre" said Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton's Senior Vice President of Development for EMEA.
In recent months, this strategy of focusing on both the French capital and provincial cities has seen the inauguration of the DoubleTree Lyon Eurexpo and a Hilton Garden Inn in Le Havre, as well as the arrival of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Paris last September, with Hotel Camille Paris Gare de Lyon. The Tapestry Collection will continue to expand in Paris over the coming months with a new hotel in the 16th arrondissement, Le Belgrand Hotel Paris Champs Elysees, while the American hotel operator is preparing to open a number of new hotels in 2022, including a fourth address in the Paris region for its flagship Hilton Hotels brand with the Hilton Paris Tour Eiffel, located on avenue de Saxe.
As for top-of-the-range hotels, later this year the Curio Collection by Hilton will welcome a hotel in Hyères, Le Hameau des Pesquiers Ecolodge, with direct access to the beach. Still in the provinces, the American group is also planning two projects in DijonIn partnership with the Naos group, the new hotel will include a budget lifestyle hotel, Hampton Inn, and a top-of-the-range hotel, Curio Collection, located in the future Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie et du Vin, within the walls of the former Hospice Sainte-Anne. The American group has also announced the opening in 2023 ofa Canopy by Hilton hotel in Cannesnot far from the old port and the Palais des Festivals. Offering 143 rooms and a 380 m2 meeting space with views over the Mediterranean, it will be topped by a 400 m2 rooftop.
While France is one of Hilton's key markets in Europe, the American group's development is extending throughout the region, with the hotelier preparing to break the 500-hotel barrier this year. " We plan to open more than 60 hotels across Europe by the end of 2022, while in the longer term 237 hotels will be added to our European portfolio." said Patrick Fitzgibbon. Among the flagship openings expected this year are a major business hotel in Rome, the Hilton Rome Eur La Lama, connected to the La Nuvola convention centre, and other more leisure-oriented hotels with the Conrad Chia Laguna Sardinia and Hilton Mallorca Galatzo resorts.
