While the brand - which is part of Accor's lifestyle brands portfolio - is revisiting the seventies-style former IBM headquarters in Brussels, it is another, older business building that the brand has converted to top-of-the-range hospitality: the headquarters of the Royal Dutch Lloyd Shipping Company. This century-old building with its Art Deco roots, to which Hoxton Lloyd Amsterdam owes its name, has been redesigned by Ennismore's in-house studio, AIME, in association with local interior design firm Nicemakers. These include the Tune Room, with its grand piano, the Tower Room, with its spiral staircase and seafront views, and the Gather Room, a wood-panelled suite with a separate dining room.
The hotel's other attractions include the Breman brasserie, which offers a blend of European and South American cuisine. a 270-seat waterside terrace. The festive dimension of the establishment is also reflected in the Barbue cocktail bar, where the place's past is recalled as soon as you enter, with the preservation of the old ticket office where travellers bought their tickets before boarding. The bar's desire to link Europe and South America is mirrored in its concept, created in collaboration with Tato Giovannoni, founder of Floreria Atlantico in Buenos Aires, which is listed as one of the world's best-selling bars. fifth among the 50 best bars in the world last year. For meetings and events, the Hoxton hotel offers The Apartment, a hybrid concept comprising two private rooms built around a central kitchen.
