Accor has just set up its ibis brand in Baku. The group's third hotel in the capital of Azerbaijan, in addition to the Pullman and the impressive Fairmont Flame Towers, the hotel adds an economical option for travellersBut it's also a new destination with a contemporary feel. " The hotel will not only be the first ibis in the country, but also the first in the Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and CIS region to feature the ibis brand's new global design concept, Agora." said Alexis Delaroff, Accor's COO for the region.
Presented in early 2019, the new non-standardised approach of the brand saw the presentation of three design concepts designed to accompany the brand's evolution. For the occasion, the hotel in the Azerbaijani capital is using the design concept created by the Austrian agency Innocad, combining functional rooms and public spaces with decor reflecting local culture, such as the ornaments on the cushions and the bricks in the reception area.
Located in the heart of the city's cultural and business district, with easy access from the airport and train station, ibis Baku City offers 202 roomsThere is also a fitness centre and a restaurant, Urbanfood74, serving European and local specialities. Travellers can enjoy a bar open at all hours and a grab & go mini-market. The hotel also has three meeting rooms for 56 to 135 people, equipped with video and audio technology.
Alongside this development, The Ibis brand and its lifestyle arm Ibis Styles are also continuing to expand in the UK. At the end of June, ibis Styles opened its thirtieth hotel across the Channel, in Bournemouth. Situated on the seafront of the seaside resort, the 76-room hotel has a childlike feel, with its ice cream themeThe rooms have evocative names - Mint Choc Chip, Tutti Frutti and Very Berry - and a carpet that evokes the syrupy swirls of a sundae.
