
The big day is approaching: next September, Wales will be making its grand entrance into the MICE market, with the inauguration of theInternational Conference Center (ICC) Wales. Based in Newport, twenty minutes from Cardiff. Presented at Frankfurt on the occasion of theIMEXWith a total capacity of some 5,000 people, the new infrastructure should - at long last - position Wales to host international events. L'ICC Wales will occupy a total surface area of 26 000 m² with a 4,000 m² pillarless main hall and a 1,500-seat auditorium. Already backed by several hotels (Celtic Manor, Hampton by Hilton, Holiday Inn, Premier Inn), the new convention centre should quickly attract other hotel operators to provide accommodation for conference delegates. By equipping itself in this way to host international conferences, Wales hopes to make headway in the MICE market.
