As part of its extensive statistical report "A modern history of international association meetings", published in the year of the fiftieth anniversary of the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association), the leading association has just unveiled new data. It shows that the number of events organised in the Middle East by international associations has doubled every decade over the last fifty years, and has just tripled over the last ten years: growth unmatched in other MICE markets.
"Our statistics prove what has long been suspected: the world is experiencing an unprecedented revolutionary period in terms of knowledge creation, and association meetings are growing exponentially as a means of disseminating this knowledge," says Martin Sirk, CEO of the ICCA. He adds: "The Middle East joined the information revolution more recently than most regions, so it's not surprising to see some of the fastest growth in the world, now that excellent infrastructures have been developed.
