IHG: à la carte bookings on its website

The IHG group has used the latest generation of cloud solutions to enhance the booking experience on its website. Choose a view of the sea or the city, select access to the lounge or a room with a bath: depending on the hotel's offer, everything is possible.
Choose a room with a view, add a sofa bed, opt for access to the lounge: the IHG Group website allows you to make à la carte reservations.

Choose a room with a view, select two beds rather than a double, opt for lounge access: the IHG Group website is enriching the booking experience for travellers. This evolution takes advantage of next-generation cloud solutions, notably as part of IHG's partnership with Amadeus. " We are setting a new standard in the industry, ensuring that customers have the opportunity to create their ideal holiday with easesaid George Turner, Chief Commercial & Technology Officer at IHG Hotels & Resorts. The innovative technology that enables this level of personalisation has allowed us to completely reimagine the booking experience, adding greater choice through the convenience of the platform." .

Beforehand, IHG had undertaken a a complete inventory of every room in its hotels around the world, collecting details of their facilities, location within the establishment and the views they offer. At the same time, the British group has set about standardising the definition of room types on a global scale, with a premium room under the Holiday Inn brand always being 15 % larger than a standard room.

More than 5,000 hotels already allow their guests to book their accommodation according to their preferencesThe website also offers a wide range of information, in line with what each hotel has to offer. And it does so simply and intuitively, by sorting according to the features on offer. For example, the InterContinental Istanbul offers a multitude of choices, ranging from the presence of a separate shower and bath in the bathroom to a sea view, a fully-stocked minibar or packages including overnight stay, breakfast and a meal. Other examples include the Holiday Inn Paris - Gare de Lyon Bastille, which includes the possibility of a sofa bed in the room, and the voco Paris Montparnasse, which invites guests to book a room with a balcony or packages with parking included.

Members of the IHG programme One Rewards also have the option of set in points or "points & cash", where loyal customers can also benefit from bonus points to qualify for elite status or restaurant credits. But travellers are unlikely to be the only ones to benefit from this redesigned booking experience: according to IHG, hotels record an extra $22 in revenue when a customer opts for an additional attribute during their stay.
