London's hotel scene is as busy as ever. Beyond the procrastination surrounding Brexit and the heavy atmosphere linked to the pandemic, new hotels are constantly opening or being announced. Already well represented, the chic lifestyle hotel sector is continuing to establish itself in the British capital. Early December, Nobu Hotels has unveiled its second hotel in London. After the one in Shoreditch, in the east of the city, the hotel group co-founded by star chef Nobu Matsuhisa, actor Robert De Niro and producer Meir Teper has moved further west, to the corner of Portman Square in Marylebone. On the menu: Nobu's signature restaurant and bar, of course, the latter with its year-round terrace, but also a new restaurant and bar. Japanese and minimalist aesthetics designed by the David Collins design studio for the public areas and by Make Architects for the 249 rooms and suites. The range of facilities, which also includes a fitness centre and a wellness centre, will be extended next year to include two meeting rooms and a fitness centre. a reception room which can accommodate 700 people.
Next January, a new generation apartment-hotelKingsland Locke, which will be built in north-east London, in the fast-developing district of Dalston. Close to Broadway Market, this urban residence from the edyn group will offer 124 flats equipped with kitchens, a coworking space for 30 people and a fitness area. Above all, the Kingsland Locke, the fourth of the brand to open in London after those in Soho and Shoreditch, will be very open to the life of the neighbourhood, with an attractive range of restaurants. Aimed at residents and local customers alike, it combines a top-of-the-range mezze and kebab restaurant, Le Bab, a microbrewery German Kraft and a Jim and Tonic gin distillery. With its frame designed by one of the star design firms, Yabu Pushelberg, and its private club for hotel guests only, The Londoner is a chic new address in the heart of the British capital. This top-of-the-range urban resort, with its high sustainable ambitions, will offer 350 rooms and suites, glazed from floor to ceiling and decorated with works of art.
In terms of catering, the hotel developed by the Edwardian Hotels and member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts will offer a gourmet Mediterranean-style restaurant, a gastro tavern and a rooftop bar. The Londoner will also have large meeting areas with a ballroom for 864 people, seven meeting rooms, an events room for 150 people and two rooms for private screenings.
