JW Marriott is gradually weaving its web in Europe with the opening of its tenth hotel, in Madrid. The luxury brand has been present in France for more than a decade, thanks to the takeover of what was once the Noga Hilton in Cannes - then a Sofitel, the Palais Stéphanie - and also has a prestigious address in London, with the Grosvenor House hotel in London. But its network of major cities has grown significantly recently with openings in Frankfurt, Berlin and Istanbul in 2022, and now a new hotel in Madrid.
The embodiment of classic, contemporary luxury, the JW Marriott is housed in a former perfumery, one of the oldest in the Spanish capital. Located not far from the Puerta del Sol, in the Canalejas districtIts building has been transformed into a hotel by the Rockwell Group, known for its sophisticated sense of design. A new aesthetic that also incorporates historical touches, including wrought-iron columns from the 19th century.e century that can be seen throughout the establishment.
Another reminder of its past is the hotel's scents, created in collaboration with the Spanish Academy of Perfumes. Aromas of violets, carnations and rosesThese are just some of the fragrances that travellers will be able to choose from to brighten up their senses during their stay. They can also perfect their knowledge of the world of perfume through olfactory workshops, offered in partnership with the same academy.
Playing on their guests' five senses, the hotel also intends to keep them on their toes with thes flavours created by Michelin-starred chef Mario SandovalThe restaurant QU and the cocktail bar are naturally inventive. The JW Marriott Madrid takes this idea of top-of-the-range relaxation one step further, with its wellness area, a large fitness room, yoga mats in the rooms and, above all, the relaxing atmosphere of its garden, El Patio JW.
With 139 rooms and suitesWith the majority of its hotels boasting large terraces with views over the city, the JW Marriott is a prime new base from which to enjoy life in Madrid and its cultural institutions. The Reina Victoria Theatre, for example, is a local landmark which is preparing to house the second opus of the UMusic Hotels by 2027.
This new lifestyle brand, launched by the Universal Music in partnership with Dakia U-Ventures, appeared for the first time last year. Already in Madrid, and already within a cultural venue, the Albeniz Theatre, a listed building that has been completely renovated to accommodate a five-star hotel with 130 rooms while giving the theatre a new lease of life.

As far as the future UMusic is concerned, this new project is part of a complex that will see the restoration of three historic buildings, the Reina Victoria theatre and two adjoining buildings, the Meneses building and the Casa Allende. The historic theatre, which has a capacity of 600, will be refurbished for the occasion, but will be complemented by an exclusive 70-room lifestyle hotelThe hotel offers a wide range of culinary delights, a spa and fitness centre, and a rooftop.
The world's largest music and entertainment company has no intention of limiting itself to the Spanish capital. " We have a progressive expansion plan whose main objective is to bring our new hospitality and entertainment concept to the world's major cities, strengthening our presence in Europe, the United States and Latin America." said Robert Lavia, CEO of UMusic Hotels.
