The lifestyle spirit of Mama Shelter is about to conquer Amsterdam. Expected to open in early 2027, the future hotel is part of the a place that reflects the brand, the Noord districtFor many years, the area was home to the NDSM shipyards, which have now been converted into a creative and cultural centre. Separated from the city centre by the Ij, but just 15 minutes from the central station and a little more from the airport, this northern district - which in 2022 has already welcomed Mercure and Tribe hotels - It also owes its success to the opening of the Eye Film Institute in 2012 and, a little later, the A'dam Lookout, a former Shell office tower that has been transformed into a tourist lighthouse with a viewpoint overlooking the whole city.
" Mama thrives where urban bustle meets warm hospitality" said Cédric Gobillard, Managing Director of the brand at Ennismore, Accor's lifestyle hotel subsidiary. Close to all these locations, the Mama Shelter is currently under development, with architecture designed by the Paul de Ruiter agency, combining sustainability and a reminder of the area's industrial past. As for the interior decorations, created by Mama Shelter's in-house design team, they will be faithful to the brand's contemporary and iconoclastic fundamentals.
When it opens, the Mama Amsterdam will offer business travellers 150 rooms, divided into two categories, as well as 80 m² of meeting and event spaceincluding karaoke rooms. Not to mention, as usual, a number of lively, convivial eateries, including a terrace bar and a rooftop bar.
