After Rennes last March - and before Nice in 2024 - Mama Shelter is continuing its expansion in France's major provincial cities with opening in Dijon next July. Also present in Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse, the lifestyle brand launched by the Trigano family and now part of Accor will be moving to the heart of Burgundy this summer.
Located on rue du Docteur Maret, a few minutes' walk from the station and right next to Saint-Bénigne cathedral, Mama Dijon revisits a building from the 1960s, listed by the Bâtiments de France for its Brutalist architecture characteristic. Previously housing the offices of the Caisse Primaire de l'Assurance Maladie, this " large illuminated glass box "Benjamin El Doghaïli, architect at the head of the Mama Shelter design studio, was inspired: " When you're faced with a forest of concrete posts supporting the impressive structure, you have to rack your brains." .
While softening the façade with a few Burgundy stones, the hotel reflects the region through geometric motifs inspired by the famous polychrome roofs used to decorate the headboards. Similarly, the hotel's black and white carpet, designed by Lila Mercier, is a graphic expression of the rolling hills of the Burgundy vineyards, while grape-pickers' baskets have been converted into light fittings. To liven things up, the pillars of the lobby and restaurant have been decorated with frescoes by Beniloys and gilded ceramics by graphic artist Arnold du Bazar d'Alger. " Mama Dijon takes a humorous, impertinent and respectful look at the strong symbols of this wine-growing region to reveal it to its French and foreign guests" says Cédric Gobilliard, Managing Director of Mama Shelter.
To take this close relationship with the destination a step further, the hotel also offers its own mustarddesigned by a local company, Edmond Fallot, and sold exclusively at the hotel. Takeaway or eat in, in the restaurant featuring local cuisine and grilled meats. The 202-seat restaurant opens onto an outdoor patio.

In terms of accommodation, Mama Dijon has 120 rooms and suites bright and distinctive". for the first time at Mama, with separate toilets, Tom Dixon washbasins, large showers and, in some cases, bathtubs." says Benjamin El Doghaïli. As well as a bench seat, these rooms also feature an original desk, as its chessboard-shaped top can be removed so that games can be played even in bed. The festive spirit of the lifestyle brand is reflected in Dijon by a petanque court and two karaoke rooms for 10 people, as well as a 28-seat cinema for private screenings.
Companies will also be able to use CineMama for videoconferences. The hotel is also a venue for corporate meetings and events with three modular workshops with capacities ranging from 13 to 60 people, and a studio that can accommodate ten or so participants for brainstorming sessions. In addition to all the latest technology, the largest of these meeting rooms, measuring 98 m², has another added bonus: a private 20 m² terrace. For an outdoor break between meetings.
