How is Air France designing the in-flight experience?
Caroline Fontaine - We're working at every level to make this experience as pleasant and comfortable as possible. This starts with the on-board safety video. What does this have to do with passenger comfort? The tone of the message serves precisely to put our passenger at ease. It "disintimidates" the passenger. Secondly, we work a lot on the harmony of colours, lighting and cabin ambience, including in economy class. The design, the seats, the fabrics: everything must contribute to the emotion, to the good memory of the journey.
Do colours really matter?
C. F. - Colours form that intrinsically French identity, that extra soul that makes a brand different. We use the colour blue - our signature colour - in our quilts, duvets and headboards. We're continuing to evolve with plans for new ornamental series with a very French design. We also play a lot with the texture of the fabrics, which are softer and more supple. Finally, the accessories themselves reinforce our identity. For example, with this small magnifying mirror in business class or this porcelain tableware featuring the Air France logo, a modernised seahorse. Meals are at the heart of the French art of living.
How can the cabin atmosphere be adapted to passengers' well-being?
C. F. - After colours and service, there's also music and lighting. Light is used to accompany the flight - meals, work, rest, landing or take-off - but also to help with jet lag. As for background music, it also helps the traveller's psychological state.
