This time it's the real deal. Initially scheduled for the end of 2021, the opening of Maison Heler in Metz has been announced many times and postponed just as many times, but has arrived just in time for the unveiling of the Michelin Guide awards in the city of Lorraine. La Vie Minutieuse by Manfred Heler: this tale written by the star designer, recently published by Allary, is the cornerstone of this unusual hotel, telling the story of a whimsical and solitary inventor daydreaming in the garden of the house he inherited from his parents, with its typical Lorraine architecture. A house that rises from the ground and suddenly flies away... to become reality on the roof of the hotel.
Maison Heler is a living replica of this poetic and surreal story. Everything echoes it, starting with a replica of a bourgeois mansion on its roof from the 19th century. Distinguishing this hotel from all others, it houses one of the hotel's restaurants, La Maison de Manfred, in a family dining room decorated with stained glass by Ara Starck, the daughter of the creator of this book hotel. The brasserie on the ground floor is also reminiscent of the fairytale, named after Rose, Mandred Heler's fantasised sweetheart. Or the collection of zany objects and sculptures - a crystal hammer, a plaster anvil, an inverted rocking chair - supposedly invented by Manfred Heler that decorate the hotel.
Business travellers are invited to share in this inventiveness through a 300 m² meeting space, comprising five lounges for conferences, seminars and private events. For, poetic as it is, the Maison Heler is also a base for meetings and business trips. As part of the development of the Amphitheatre district, of which the Centre Pompidou-Metz has been the centrepiece for the past decade, the hotel is also close to the TGV station and the Robert Schuman conference centre, both just a ten-minute walk away.
Set in a monolithic, monochromatic nine-storey building, the establishment offers 104 rooms and suites with pure luxury. " An almost Spartan spiritsays Philippe Starck, devoid of all superficiality, where each material imposes its colour, the white of the cotton, the grey of the concrete ceiling and walls" . As well as providing Metz with a new top-of-the-range address, Maison Heler is part of the Hilton Group's expansion in France and is part of the Curio Collection brand.
