Nantes airport is attracting particular attention from European carriers. After British Airways, which will be making a comeback on the Loire Atlantique hub on March 29 after a nine-year absence, it's Lufthansa's turn to show its ambitions. Just one day ahead of its British rival - the 28 March so - the German airline will be launching a new route between Nantes and Munich, the carrier's second hub after Frankfurt. Four flights will be operated each week by an Airbus A319: departures from Nantes will take place at 6.45pm every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The Friday flight will be brought forward to 11.05am. Lufthansa explains that this "time difference" is intended to ".enable passengers to easily combine continental flights, in particular to Eastern Europe, with long-haul flights, in particular to the North Atlantic or Asia, such as Washington, Chicago, Vancouver, Hong Kong, Beijing or Shanghai"according to the press release published on 16 November. It also emphasises the role of business customers in the company's strategy for Nantes, citing "the presence ofa particularly dense and dynamic business fabric".
Nantes is not the only destination targeted by Lufthansa on the Atlantic seaboard. The German carrier will be flying to Bordeaux on 2 Apriland will then offer business travellers in the Gironde region a direct link to the hub of Frankfurt. With two weekly flightsSo it's with a lighter schedule that the airline is setting out to conquer this promising route. These routes will be operated every Thursday and Sunday, departing from Bordeaux at 6.25pm.
